The new intraocular lens known as the Implantable Collamer Lens (ICL) can be placed into the eye without removing the original lens. Collamer is a collagen co-polymer used to make this lens, which also includes a trace quantity of pure collagen. This is done to treat mild to severe myopia, astigmatism, and nearsighted vision problems.
